Nia The Nia Technique ™ was created in 1983, by Debbie and Carlos Rosas, as a way to engage people in a more holistic approach to working out. Nia’s integrated and balanced workout teaches people how to feel pleasure in their bodies and is adaptable for all levels of fitness.
Nia is a non-impact aerobic technique that uses grounded, barefoot cardiovascular movements to strengthen the heart and the whole body safely without stress to the bones and joints.
Nia blends dance, martial arts, yoga and healing arts to allow your child, athlete, warrior, and dancer within to expressively emerge. Participants are encouraged to modify their movement, speed and range of motion so participants of all fitness levels can self-guide their Nia practice to meet their needs.
With 52 basic moves, Nia involves a variety of movement speeds and styles, ranges of motion and energy dynamics. The bio-chemistry of the joint and muscle action is triggered by imagination and by expressing emotion.
