About Kimberly

Kimberly began her formal dance training in 1966 and has continued to be an active student of dancing and movement. A life changing closed head and neck injury was the catalyst and gift that launched her into researching and partaking in numerous modalities of: documented healing techniques, methods of energy work, martial arts, and diverse and profound uses of music, dance, and movement as pathways to self-discovery, healing, and wellness. Which in turn, led Kimberly to creating and publicly facilitating Soul Dance classes, becoming Nia trained by the Nia Technique founders, Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, becoming a Creative Movement Facilitator, and a certified Wellness Coach.

According to Worlds of Music organizer, David Romtvedt, “Dance is maybe the most physical of our arts – motion, sound, rhythm and images – to resolve some of the tensions of daily life.” Kimberly believes that dancing is a species constant; a universal behavior required for survival.

Kimberly comments, “Guiding people to sense their own innate joy and personal power, no matter where they reside physically, mentally or emotionally is what I do. Sharing the joy and fantastic whole-body rewards of dance is my passion.”

As a Creative Movement Facilitator, Kimberly works with all populations including at risk and developmentally and physically challenged adults. She invites and guides participants to explore various methods and techniques of sensory awareness, via the tools of music, dance, movement, percussion instruments, guided imagery, and aromatherapy. Benfits include clearing pathways to self-empowerment and release of habitual movement patterns; making way for cognitive body-mind awareness, expanded mobility, and enhanced quality of Being.

Dancing is about self-discovery. In her book, When the Drummers Were Women, author Layne Redmond states, “There is a shared conviction that dancing can lead you back to something essential within yourself.” She prophetically speaks of, “…reclaiming the authority of your own rhythm.”

Dance – the soul’s response to music. You are cordially invited.
